“Our journey started on the campus of LSU. Hays was a sophomore and it was the first day of my freshman year. We met at the lovely establishment of Reggies (haha). Hays was so wowed by my beauty that night that he decided to ask me to his Fraternity Semi-Formal. In short, I got sick, Hays was a perfect gentleman and took care of me, but I thought he would never speak to me again. Now here we are 6 years later getting married!
College was full of fun and crazy adventures with Hays. We went to sorority and fraternity events together, studied together, I supported Hays at the crazy amount of basketball games he had, we went on dates of all kinds (including tree climbing dates on campus), we laughed, we cried, and in the end, we even graduated together. After graduation, Hays got a job in his dream profession of coaching basketball in Reno, NV and I got into graduate school for my dream profession as a Physician Assistant in Birmingham, AL. It couldn’t have been more perfect except for the fact that we had to move over 2,000 miles away from each other. We have had a long-distance relationship for over 2 years now, and it has been one of the most challenging things we have ever done. However, through this, we have realized we never want to live without each other.
On May 4th, 2018, I was on one of my many trips to Reno. Hays and I’s favorite place to go when I visit is Lake Tahoe. He told me that he had planned a day for us to hike in Lake Tahoe and I wasn’t suspecting anything at all ;). We hiked to the top of one of our favorite trails at Cascade Falls. At the top, the man of my dreams proposed and obviously, I said yes! It was absolutely the most perfect day and I couldn’t be more excited to marry him. Throughout these past 6 years (I know that’s a long time), we have loved, trusted and encouraged each other every step of the way. I thank God every day that he brought Hays and I together in the craziest of ways and that he brought us to where we are now. We could not be more excited about our next adventure as we get married and spend the rest of our lives together!”
