Gabrielle + James | A gorgeous wedding in Iceland
“Even with an ocean between us, I am never alone.” Old Icelandic words and immense love bind this couple. An emotional wedding story of two people in love sharing life’s hardships and long distances. Iceland is arguably one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We had the pleasure of filming this incredible love story between two amazing people. Even with all of the hardships endured and long distances between the United States and Europe, true love would not falter. Located directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, Þingvellir National Park was a fitting location to celebrate this wonderful wedding.
Here is their story //
James and I met at a time when we truly needed each other the most. We were both in New Orleans, nursing our wounded hearts from recent breakups. I heard his English accent while he was speaking to the bartender, and casually noted that I wanted to start traveling more, and London was high on my list. We started talking and discovered that we were living parallel lives. We compared war stories of our broken relationships, discovered we shared the same birthday, our matching desire to travel the world, and so on and so forth. I showed him around the city and enjoyed the quickly budding friendship between us.
He flew home to London, England shortly after, but we kept in touch daily. He came back a few weeks later to visit, and we started planning future adventures as friends. From our countless trips to each other, as well as Iceland, London, Paris, Switzerland, Christmas in New York and celebrating our birthday in Florida, we were reminded that life laughs at our plans as being “just friends.”
After three and a half years of constant goodbyes, daily FaceTime calls, long layovers, and six-hour time differences, we decided to close the gap in the place where we first started our adventure- Iceland. Coincidentally, we said our vows to each other in Thingvellir National Park, where the European and American tectonic plates meet. ❤️
