Aliza + Sam | Beautiful wedding at Race and Religious
We really enjoy hearing stories about love and what brings people together. Aliza and Sam’s story included so many amazing frends and family which traveled from all over the country to share their special day. That is a testimate to the strong relationships they have developed, we were truly inspired to work with them!
In her words..
“Sam and I met in high school, but it wasn’t until our Senior Spring Break Trip that we became friends. Not long after that, Sam asked me to senior prom in front of the entire high school at assembly with a choreographed dance (and backup dancers) to “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. I was mortified, but also excited, and after prom we spent the rest of the summer like any high school sweethearts falling in love. We didn’t expect it to last through college — but it did!
Although we went to separate schools, lots of Southwest flights, bus tickets, and a love of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and movies kept us together. After studies abroad, summer internships in NYC, and several years in Boston, we now live happily ever after with our dog, Oliver, on a tree-lined street in Washington DC’s Capitol Hill.
Sam proposed over Labor Day 2018 on Martha’s Vineyard at the private beach during sunset where he used to spend summers as a child by his grandparent’s house. Over the years, Martha’s Vineyard has also become an equally special place for us — somewhere we can unplug, eat amazing food, and spend time with family and friends. I was completely surprised (I think my first words were, “For real?”), and it was absolutely perfect.”
